
University of Cape Town voted the best African university in world university rankings.
According to the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), the University of Cape Town (UCT) is still the top university in South Africa.
(CWUR) also shared that only the top 2 000 universities worldwide received a global ranking after the CWUR evaluated over 20 000 institutions.
The CWUR reported that UCT increased its employability and research performance, moving up three ranks to 267th in the world rankings.

The University of Witwatersrand also made the list and was ranked 290th globally and was the second-best-placed university in the nation.
Elijah Moholola, a spokesperson for UCT who spoke to the SABC, factors like research production, high-quality research, influence, and citations are utilized to rank the institutions.
According to a statement by Moholoa, ““UCT’s highest ranked indicator is quality of education, which at 182nd position was down four places from last year. The alumni employment indicator (placed 224th) performed well and continued its climb, moving up 13 places compared to last year, which was also up 23 places on the previous year. The research performance indicator (ranked 245th) improved by five places compared to last year.”
