Police have confirmed that three more G4S employees have been arrested in the Thabo Bester case, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to 11, excluding Thabo Bester himself.
The three men were employed by the private security company who managed the Mangaung Correctional Centre where Bester escaped from in May 2022.
Two of the men are 47-years old, and the third is a 37-year old.
One suspect was arrested at his home in Botshabelo while the other two were arrested at their place of residence in Bloemfontein on Monday, 26 June.
The arrests come after Bester’s case was postponed to 08 August for further investigation, and owing to the convicted rapist and murderer’s lawyers being recused from his case.
So far the following suspects are facing charges relating to aiding and abetting Bester from escaping from lawful custody:
- Senohe Moatsoara
- Teboho Lipholo
- Buti Masemola
- Tieho Frans Makhotsa
- Nastassja Jansen
- Dr Nandipha Magudumana
- Zolile Sekeleni
- Xanda Moyo
National Spokesperson for SAPS, Athlenda Mathe said police are making new breakthroughs in the Bester case on a daily basis.
“All three of the arrested suspects are men employed by G4S. Two of the suspects are aged 47, and the other is 37-years old.
One suspect was arrested at his home in Botshabelo while the other two were arrested at their place of residence in Bloemfontein.
All three were arrested on Monday evening. Twelve suspects have been arrested in this case, the possibility of effecting more arrests cannot be ruled out.”
