Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera has fired his whole cabinet.
On Monday Chakwera dissolved his entire Cabinet over corruption charges against three of its members.
Chakwera’s decision to sack his cabinet followed after the arrest of three former officials of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Speaking in a televised address he said.
“I have dissolved my entire cabinet effective immediately, and all the functions of cabinet revert to my office until I announce a reconfigured cabinet in two days,”
He also told the Malawian people he vows to “confront all forms of lawless conduct by public officials.”

Chakwera’s new reconfigured cabinet is said to exclude Minister of Lands Kezzie Msukwa, who was arrested last month in a bribery case.
According to Malawi24.com, there is high-level corruption in the Malawian government. Anti-Corruption Bureau Director-General Martha Chizuma has alleged that the corruption is so deeply entrenched that it continues to be impeded by members of the judiciary
Chakwera was elected in 2020 and made a firm commitment to fight corruption.
