It’s been reported that a 13-year-old teenager in Durban stole his father’s BMW X3 and went on a joyride.
He drove the vehicle into a taxi transporting school children in KwaMashu.
Sadly, the minibus overturned and injured the learners. They were all transported to a hospital.
According to Times Live, Prem Balram of Reaction Unit SA revealed that the scholars suffered injuries ranging from mild to severe.
“An angry mob gathered at the scene and threatened to assault the driver of the white BMW X3 who was believed to be responsible for the collision.
“Paramedics from various ambulance services stabilised the injured on scene before transporting them to medical facilities,” as quoted by the publication.
On the Morning Show with Thomas and Skhumba, the hosts asked the listeners at what age did they start driving?
Skhumba revealed that he started driving in 2005 after buying his first car.
Calling in, a woman said that she was driving for fourteen years without a licence.
“My dad taught me how to drive when I was thirteen years old.
“He parked on the side of the road and told me to take the wheel. Since then I drove for fourteen years without a driver’s license,” she shared.
Anonymous revealed that he learnt how to drive using a state-owned car that his dad used to work with. He never got into an accident.
If you think 13 is young, a caller from the Kruger national park said that he’s been driving since the age of 10.
