On Sunday, 5th of September, the department of correctional services said former President Jacob Zuma has been placed on medical parole.
In a statement released on Sunday afternoon, the department said:
“Medical parole’s eligibility for Mr Zuma is impelled by a medical report received by the Department of Correctional Services. Apart from being terminally ill and physically incapacitated, inmates suffering from an illness that severely limits their daily activity or self-care can also be considered for medical parole.”
Zuma’s medical parole means that he will complete the remainder of the sentence in the system of community corrections, according to the statement.
Jacob Zuma Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi says while the foundation welcomes the decision of the parole board, it will still study the conditions of his release. Manyi also says the former president is not yet at home.
“Just to confirm president Zuma right now is still in hospital, the fact that he is being released on medical parole doesn’t mean that tonight he is going home. The doctors must still make an assessment and that will be announced when that happens as well.”

There’s been mixed reaction across the board, some commenting about how they don’t care at this stage, other worried about his health, while others commented about his wrongful prosecution.
One listener made the infamous quote from George Orwell’s Animal farm, that says, “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others:
