These include violent robberies, some at gunpoint, along with non-compliance with the city’s by-laws.
The news of the deployment of these officers comes as a relief to many who live in the city.
1800 MPO’s will be deployed in the inner city & surrounding areas (Hillbrow, Yeovile & Berea) etc in order to remove all factors that creates opportunity for high crime rate. Officers will be divided in 27 blocks. Each block will consist of 25 officers. #BuyaMthetho #JoburgWorks pic.twitter.com/WbJ1G58Vma

Thomas and Skhumba asked the Kaya 959 listeners about their views of whether deploying the newly recruited officers would yield any difference in the crime-infested Joburg CBD.
Kaya 959 listeners had mixed views on the matter.
@KayaON959 Good Morning Kaya Family. I agree with the vn I just heard and Skhumba. I think SANDF could do a better job, or experienced police officers. Not new police officers, no matter how many they are. #ThomasAndSkhumba

#ThomasAndSkhumba Those newly recruited officers, they are still afraid to take bribe unlike “bogale re le mo” who take bribe with a smile. Something will happen, let’s appreciate the fact that COJ atleast they doing something to try and fix the iJozi.
