Popular South Africa group, The Soil joins Tbose on My Top 10 at 10 to chat about what they’ve been up to, Amapiano, and much more.
Their take on Amapiano
Ntsika says Amapiano is a beautiful sound.
“Amapiano I feel it’s truly a South African sound. In the soil album, you’ll hear influences, it’s such a beautiful sound. Why not take part and become part of history?”
What caught Luphindo’s attention is how musical the genre is. “I think what caught me is the guys who are very musical. It’s so musical, even the baas.”
Buhlebendalo Mda is in love with the lyrical content. “I love the genre, I like the way their lyrics are so affirming. These new vocalists are singing the truth – the music is not so far-fetched. I love Amapiano,” she tells Tbose.
On their personal journeys
Ntsika says he’s been running away from his dreams but they kept haunting him.
“I don’t think my journey has anything to do with the soil. The soil is an independent institution. The dreams I have always been there, the album even though I released in 2019, I started dreaming in 2016, and when it came I spoke to management. You try to run away from it but they keep coming back,” he shares.
Phindo says he had a lot of things going on on the side.
“It’s interesting, this is not a battle and I support – the things that I was doing on the side were a lot. I still repeat it’s not a competition and everything is working accordingly. My explode will come,” he shared.
