Love him or hate him, the Weeknd (Abel Tesfaye) is one of those stars who has never coloured within the lines. He’s always pouring his heart and soul into his tracks, using his personal anguish as inspiration for the haunting lyrics.
Upping the ante with his latest album, “After Hours,” the popular singer wanted each music video to tell a story.
He recently sent the internet into a frenzy over his supposed plastic surgery in his latest video for “Save Your Tears.”
Subliminal messaging in Save Your Tears
The Weeknd is known for telling all with his punchy lyrics, hitting back at his exes as he takes swipes with knockout recounts of how their relationship went south.
As was the case with “Call Out My Name,” which was a stark blow to ex Selena Gomez when he brazenly accounts that he “almost cut a piece of himself for your life.”
He was willing to be an organ donor for Gomez, who needed a kidney transplant. They split when Selena rekindled a short-lived romance with Justin Bieber before he married Hailey Baldwin.
“Save Your Tears” is intended as a message for The Weeknd’s rebound after Selena, Bella Hadid.
The first verse of the song was a dead giveaway, “I saw you dancing in a crowded room, you look so happy when I’m not with you.”
Fans linked this to the run-in he had with Bella at a nightclub a month after they broke up.
