The world seems to be split into two different kinds of people, those who plan ahead and thoroughly make progress on tasks. And those who have a tendency to leave things for the last minute. This could be because people have convinced themselves that they work well under pressure. However, things that get done last minute tend to unnecessarily cause chaos in your life.
The Best T in the City presenter Thabo ‘Tbose’ Mokwele asked Kaya 959 listeners why they Leave things for the last minute. Many callers shared how they always leave their tasks for the last minute as it gives them an adrenaline rush.
It’s an addiction to chaos. The thrill of having 10things to do in 2minutes and making it by the skin of your hair. Also procrastinating takes up most of my time 😢

Here are ways to beat procrastination:
1. Set a realistic goal and fairly evaluate your ability
Make sure the goal is inspiring and attainable, based on the evaluation of your ability now and its potential to grow, plus the time and effort needed to achieve your goal.
2. Divide the goal into more achievable ones
If the goal seems too big to reach, then cut it into smaller pieces to reduce the fear of a sudden commitment.
3. Try out some time management systems.
Some people just work better at the last minute. But if you find it stressful to live life at the eleventh hour, have a look at implementing some organizational tools.
4. Cut the wasted time
If you’re a busy person who loves to procrastinate, reviewing your time log is a perfect way to see where you’ve spent time and where you should have or could have, done more work. But allowing yourself set working patterns, you can be safe knowing your free time is actually your free time.
