Dutch police have confirmed that a stowaway was discovered on a flight to the Netherlands out of South Africa.
The man’s nationality, age and identity is unknown at this stage.
There was only one flight out of South Africa to the Netherlands over the weekend. The flight made one stop in Nairobi, Kenya.
It is unclear if the man boarded the 11-hour flight in South Africa or Kenya. Officials found the stowaway in the wheel section of a cargo plane.
He was discovered at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport where he was immediately rushed to the hospital for medical observation.
According to reports the man’s temperature was elevated when he disembarked the flight.
Stowaways usually do not survive the long flights due to the extreme cold and high altitude in the plane’s storage compartments.
The Dutch airport will be allowing officials to conclude investigations.
