UFC Champion Dricus du Plessis receives a hero’s welcome at O.R. Tambo International Airport.
South African professional mixed martial artist Dricus du Plessis, the nation’s new UFC middleweight world champion, was greeted with heroism upon his return back home this morning.
Du Plessis defeated Strickland 48-47, 47-48, and 48-47 making history as the first-ever South African UFC champion.
Even though he is still recovering from an injury, Dricus thanked South Africans for their support while carrying a South African flag around his shoulders.
It was all jubilation and praise just before eight this morning when he landed at Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport.

As they waited for him to exit the Arrivals Hall, dozens of fans dressed in the South African flag were beaming.
