The Springboks will rekindle their rivalry with Australia in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship. The first Test will take place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday, August 10th, followed by the second Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth a week later.
After the clashes with Australia, the Springboks will face their arch-rivals, New Zealand, at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday, August 31st, and at the DHL Stadium on Saturday, September 7th. The Boks will also take on Argentina at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, September 28th, in the final round of the competition.
The confirmation of the Australian fixtures adds to the already exciting home Test schedule for head coach Rassie Erasmus’ team.
The last time the Springboks played in Brisbane was in 2021, when they suffered a 30-17 defeat against the Wallabies. This will be their first Test at the new Optus Stadium in Perth since their visit in 2017, which ended in a 23-23 draw.
“We are excited that the venues for our two Castle Lager Rugby Championship matches against Australia have been locked in and we are very eager to return to Brisbane and Perth,” said Erasmus.
“It’s always tough facing the Wallabies in Australia, and we are well aware of the challenge that awaits us, not only down under, but in this testing season in general.
“We first have a big Castle Lager Incoming Series to focus on with a two-Test series against Ireland and our first match against Portugal, and then we’ll turn our attention to what is certainly going to be another gripping Castle Lager Rugby Championship.”
