Springbok scrum-half Faf de Klerk and his wife Mine have shared some exciting news – they are expecting another bundle of joy.
“Surprise! We’re growing the De Klerk team! Big Sister Duty: Pick the Faffie of our new teammate,” they captioned a video of their announcement.
This came after de Klerk took to social media to wish his wife, Miné van Niekerk, a happy birthday in a heartfelt post.
Sharing a touching tribute alongside a photo of himself, Miné, and their daughter, Faf wrote:
“Happiest of birthdays to my wife @minevanniekerk. Thank you for everything you do for us. May God keep you safe this year and make all your dreams come true. Myself and Remi are truly blessed. Here’s to many more adventures together. Love you, my skat.”
According to reports, the couple’s love story began in December 2015 when they met through mutual friends in Hermanus. Not long after, Miné invited Faf to a wedding, a moment that reportedly helped cement the bond between them.
Their relationship was soon tested by long distance, with Faf relocating to Manchester in 2017 to play rugby, while Miné pursued her career as a pharmacist at her father’s pharmacy in Postmasburg.
Faf proposed in May 2022, and the couple tied the knot on 1 October that same year at the picturesque La Paris Estate in Franschhoek, South Africa.
The intimate celebration was attended by close friends and family, including several of Faf’s Springbok teammates who stood by his side as groomsmen.
In February 2024, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Remi-Ré de Klerk, marking the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in their journey together.
