South African stadiums are officially back to 100% capacity.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has applauded the government’s decision to remove restrictions on public event crowds, enabling full stadium attendance.
South African football now has the chance to rebuild the stadium economy that was ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to SAFA Chief Medical Officer Doctor Thulani Ngwenya, who welcomed the decision made following a meeting of the National Coronavirus Command Council.

In a statement released by the association they wrote “We are back to normal,” said Doctor Ngwenya after the government also repealed the rules of wearing of masks in public places.
“The sector has been severely affected by the pandemic and it is now time to begin the fight for recovery from an economic point of view. It is a great opportunity to recover the economy.
“But I must add that we still need to be cautious, review our protocols on stadium safety. This is the time for us to review those protocols.”
