Ria Ledwaba speaks out on SAFA freezing her accounts.
In response to the SA Football Association’s decision to give the sheriff permission to freeze her bank accounts, former vice president Ria Ledwaba has responded.
The court awarded SAFA more than R 400,000 in costs. The football motherbody has given the sheriff the order to attach her accounts, despite the former Ria Stars boss’s insistence that she has already paid the payment. This is a result of the legal fees incurred during last year’s court battles involving SAFA and Ledwaba.
In a statement, Ledwaba has stated that SAFA hasn’t followed the relevant procedures with regard to the attachment of her accounts. She further stated that she had expressed her displeasure with the manner the attachment was secured without any notice served by the sheriff or SAFA.
“SAFA has failed to follow the proper procedures relating to the attachment of my accounts which includes services of all notices and write of execution on me and my legal representatives. In this respect, I place it on record that had the proper procedures been followed, payment would have been made to SAFA because I always had the necessary funds to pay for this litigation.
The attachment of my accounts should be seen for what it is, which is to embarrass me and to create an impression in public that I am a delinquent involved in reckless litigation without funds to pay legal costs.”

SAFA deemed Ledwaba a “persona non grata” in March, thereby prohibiting her from participating in any SAFA-sponsored events. Leslie Sedibe, a former SAFA CEO and attorney, made the announcement at a press briefing.
Ledwaba recently joined Kaya 959 to speak about the events leading up to SAFA’s decision.
