Sharks captain Lukhanyo Am has penned a new three-year contract with the Durban side, keeping him there until 2025.
The Sharks have also announced that the 28-year-old has signed a deal with Japan’s Kobelco Steelers, that will see him spending the next two months there, before returning to the Sharks.

The deal includes permission to take up the brief stint with the Steelers, starting next week.
Am will return to South Africa just in time for the United Rugby Championship playoffs, but that’s if the Sharks make it to the qualifiers.
For the moment, Siya Kolisi will take over the captain’s armband.
The World Cup winning Springbok centre has ben with the KwaZulu Natal franchise since 2016, winning the 2018 Currie Cup, while also reaching the last two finals, which they lost to the Blue Bulls.
