South African football legend Lucas Radebe is one of the country’s most decorated sportsmen. He played for Kaizer Chiefs, before joining English side Leeds United where he was capped 256 times for the club.
In an interview making the rounds on social media, Radebe revealed that Manchester United wanted to sign him during Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.
He turned down the opportunity to play for the Premier League outfit.
“When Man United, came looking for me I decided the move so I would stay in Leeds. It was absolutely big,” said Radebe.
“The offer came to the club. I was called in and the manager said that there was an offer for me. I told them no thank you.”
The Bafana legend notes that he was “happy” where he was.
“This is the club that introduced me to the Premiere League. That wasn’t the only club. I had offers from Roma which I declined because I knew I wanted to grow with Leeds and achieve at the club,” he expressed.
