South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada made history on Wednesday, surpassing the legendary Allan Donald to become the Proteas’ fourth-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket.
This significant milestone came during his exceptional five-wicket haul against Australia on Day 1 of the World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Rabada was in excellent form, ripping through the Australian batting lineup with figures of 5/65. He also broke a record which was previously held by India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the best strike rate for bowlers against Australia.
His performance helped restrict the reigning WTC champions to a first-innings total of 212 all out.
With this haul, Rabada now boasts 332 Test wickets, moving past Donald’s 330.
He now trails only Dale Steyn (439), Shaun Pollock (421), and Makhaya Ntini (390) on South Africa’s all-time list.
