Disgraced wing, Aphiwe Dyantyi has vowed to make a return to rugby once his ban comes to an end.
Dyantyi is serving a four-year ban for testing positive for three banned substances in 2019, before he even got a chance to take part in South Africa’s successful Rugby World Cup campaign.
The 27-year-old, who believes he still has a place at the top of the game, will see his suspension come to an end on 12 August 2023.
He says he hasn’t been idle while he’s been away from the game, confirming that he’s been involved in some business projects.
Dyantyi was expected to become the next best in international rugby after winning the 2018 World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year, having scored six Test tries that year.
The man from Ngcobo in the Eastern Cape, famous for his Black Panther celebrations, rose to prominence while playing for the Emirates Lions in Super Rugby.
He played in 13 Tests for the Springboks between 2018 and 2019.
When Dyantyi’s ban comes to an end, the Boks will be a month away from kicking off their World Cup title defence, as the 2023 showpiece begins on 8 September, in France.
