Elton Jantjies banned for 4 years for testing positive for Clenbuterol.
Springbok fly-half Elton Jantjies has been banned for four years after testing positive for the banned substance Clenbuterol.
In a sample given to the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport in June of last year, the 33-year-old tested positive for the drug.
Clenbuterol is an asthma drug that improves endurance and burns fat.
Despite not playing for the Springboks and missing out on the 2023 World Cup squad, Jantjies was part of the 2023 Springboks training squad as a flyhalf substitute.

SAIDS stated on its website that the Jantjies had missed the deadline to file an appeal and that they had not asked for a hearing, which is typically the case when a player wants to contest a test result.
“A written decision was issued in terms of Article 8.3 of the SAIDS Anti-Doping Rules 2021 because the Athlete did not exercise his/her right to have their case heard before an Independent Doping Hearing Panel (IDHP),” SAIDS said on its website.
