The conversation about mental health has gained much-needed prominence in society across the world.
It’s possible that you too, tick the boxes of known forms of personality disorders, making it difficult to distinguish between them.
It is also possible that a wide range of people, although having quite diverse personalities and particular experiences, meet the criteria for the same disease.
It may be difficult to distinguish them from other mental diseases such as anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia.

As we wrap up this month’s mental wellness feature Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Dr Dulcy Rakumakoe, CEO of Quadcare about Thoughts, and behaviours that are unhealthy when it comes to your mental illness.

Rakumakoe spoke about how people are starting to dig deeper into the patterns of their actions.
“We are slowly waking up to the reality that some of these things are beyond our control.”
“We talk about the cognitive triangle where your thoughts become your emotions, your emotions determine you actions, and people always justified their actions by saying “This is what I am”, not realising that some of these actions are survival mechanisms from past traumas. We develop traumas we experience in our childhood,” says Rakumakoe

She also reminded Kaya 959 listeners that our emotional, psychological, and social well-being are all part of our mental health.
She stressed how our mental health may impact the way we think, feel, and act, as well as how it also influences how we deal with stress, interact with people, and make good decisions.
