The City of Johannesburg Debt Rehabilitation Programme is seeking to help households earning under R22,000pm to get them to have their debt written off.
According to the City of Johannesburg debt write-offs are now available to homeowners with a combined monthly income of less than R22,000, small enterprises, non-profit organizations, and churches that are in arrears with the City of Johannesburg.
Successful applicants would have their debts written off in half right away.
The debt will be waived off if the customer meets all of the program’s requirements, according to the CoJ.
The debt will be divided into thirds, with one-third being written off each year for the next three years.
Only a percentage of the debt over 90 days will be written off if the account holders settle the account in full if their gross monthly income is higher than R22,000 per month.
