Nunu Ntshingila-Njeke, Regional Director at Meta (previously Facebook) announced last week that she was stepping down from her position after 7 years of service.
This week, she caught up with 959 Breakfast with Dineo and Sol to chat about her decision to step down.
Nunu, who was head-hunted by Facebook 7 years ago to establish the commercial approach in the space is taking time out for herself.
“It has been an amazing journey and has allowed me to experience the continent in a deep and profound way,” she adds.
“I am now embarking on a personal journey, I am retiring and continuing to find projects to do.”
Proud of the work she’s done with her team so far, Nunu believes there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done.
“I’ve seen many women start businesses online and I think that will continue to happen. I think the work is not done and it’ll continue that way.”
She expresses her gratitude to everyone who has “supported her throughout the journey and used their platforms.”
Her wish is to see more and more Africans “make use of the platform to develop Africa and put their voices out there.”
