There is a growing interest in patient investors delving into macadamia nut farming.
The crop is also in high demand, and there isn’t enough supply to meet this demand.
Macadamias are very versatile and are widely used in the confectionery, baking, ice cream and snack food industries.
Macadamia oil’s rich, and smooth skin feel and high oxidative stability make it especially suitable for heavy creams and sun

Ntuthuko Shezi, the Chief Executive officer of Livestock Wealth recently joined Gugulethu Mfuphi on Kaya Biz to explain how the macadamia crop is the highest-earning agricultural product per hectare.
“This is a R4 billion a year industry, with very little to no participation by black farmers.
“We’ve changed this because to grow a macadamia nuts tree take about 6 years from the time you plant the first seed to the time you get your first full harvest.”
“Not everyone has 6 years of money, because you have to have 6 years of rent if you are renting, and six years of salaries, as well as diesel and all those other farm expenses.”
“You will need capital to maintain this tree until it reaches full production,” says Shezi
The macadamia trees require a hot subtropical climate without much humidity.
The most ideal place to grow it in South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Limpopo are ideal areas.
