The Grahamstown (Makhanda) National Arts Festival is a winter holiday must -go art and cutural festival on the African continent. The festival is jam-packed with great shows to choose from as early as 9AM and the cultural fun goes on until 11PM. From Comedy shows to musicals and theatrical plays – the National Arts Festival has it all.
South African Tourism invited Kaya 959 as part of their “It’s your country enjoy it” campaign to not only enjoy the Grahamstown National Arts Festival but to experience the magestic sights of the Eastern Cape. It’s Your Country – is a new campaign encourages South Africans to travel locally and enjoy our country. It’s our country, enjoy it, because nothing’s more fun than a Sho’t Left in your country and exploring the beauty in South Africa.
In an experience that was as much about the shows at the festival as it was about the Sho’t Left experiences the province has to offer, we saw once-in-a-lifetime performances by the talented Nduduzo Makhathini, were serenaded by Samthing Soweto around the different spots in Grahamstown, Amanda Black and Linda Sikhakhane among many other talented artists from all over the world.
In celebrating 100 years of Nelson Mandela this year, a number of the fringe shows followed the theme and narrated the story of our former president Nelson Mandela.
The Sho’t Left experience was refreshing and we got enjoy the beauty of our country and the fresh breath of air.
