Sandton City has confirmed that an individual jumped to their death at the mail on Wednesday evening. According to a statement by the mall, the incident occurred at 20h26 and an investigation is underway.
Emergency services were present at the scene but the person was pronounced dead.

Several eyewitnesses claim to have seen a woman jump to her death and reiterate that no one pushed her. The circumstances around the alleged suicide are unknown at this point and police are yet to identify the person.
People are now calling for malls to employ more security to try and prevent future incidents where people attempt to jump to their death.
The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) reports 23 suicides are recorded daily in the country, with 230 serious attempts per day.
They urge people to call SADAG to talk on behalf of a loved one, colleague, or friend who may be suicidal.
Trained counsellors are there to help and refer you to local counsellors, facilities and Support Groups.
