Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. is mourning the death of his father Robert Downey Sr, who passed on Wednesday at the age of 85.
According to the actor, his father was a renowned Hollywood filmmaker and passed peacefully in his sleep after years of enduring the ravages of Parkinson’s disease.

Downey Sr. began writing and directing low-budget films in 1961 and had two children Allyson and Robert Downey Jr. who both made their acting careers when they were children at 7 and 5 respectively.
His son went on to become one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood for his role as Iron Man in the Marvel franchise.
Downey Sr. had been living with Parkinson’s for five years.
Downey Sr. was an actor and filmmaker best known for “Putney Swope” and “Greaser’s Palace.” He also appeared in “Boogie Nights,” “Magnolia” and “To Live and Die in L.A.”
