[UPDATE]
Musician Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye is reportedly planning to take legal action against Amanda du-Pont and Masechaba Khumalo.
In a report by News24, Jub Jub’s representative released a statement saying Amanda and Masechaba need to apologise and retract their claims that Jub Jub raped them.
“South Africa is currently dealing with a serious pandemic of gender-based violence [GBV], and it’s concerning to have such popular figures abusing a serious matter as GBV to tarnish someone’s name all in the name of punishment because he revealed certain aspects of their romantic relationship which they might not have wanted others to know,” said the statement.
“He will be opening a case of crimen injuria and defamation against Amanda du Pont, Masechaba Khumalo, Bonoluhle Nkala, and Refilwe Kumalo, who have been pulled to campaign against our son by Amanda du Pont on her social media page.
“Their claims have damaged our son’s reputation, infringed his rights to privacy and dignity,” the statement said.
Last week, Amanda went live on Instagram and claimed that Jub Jub raped her for two years. She made the revelation after Jub Jub’s interview with MacG’s ‘Podcast and Chill’ where he said he “smashed” her.

“There are three things that I want to address. The first was that he smashed me. First of all, Molemo you raped me. I was raped for two years. So, please don’t make it sound like it was a relationship. I was absolutely afraid to leave,” Amanda said.
Following Amanda’s IG video, media personality Masechaba Khumalo also came out and said she was raped by Jub Jub.
“I believe @AmandaDupont. Molemo Maarohanye (Jub Jub) raped me too. It happened in Mama Jakie’s house in Naturena. He was my boyfriend. I was a teenager. I was a virgin,” she tweeted.

Jub Jub apologizes
Jub Jub has released an apology to Amanda. He said it was wrong of him to discuss “intimate details” of their relationship.
“In the aftermath of the release of my interview with Mac G I have taken some time to re watch the interview and reflect on my words, specifically my exchange with Mac G regarding Ms Amanda Du Pont. It was inappropriate for me to discuss the intimate details of my relationship with Ms Du Pont in public. I deeply regret the incident,” he wrote.
The ‘Ndikhokhele’ hitmaker also apologized for the language he used.
“I wish to apologize unreservedly to Amanda for the humiliation and hurt I cause her. I apologise for my fans and the public for the inappropriate language I used during the interview,” he wrote.
The singer, however, said he will all the law to take its course.
“With regard to the accusations levelled against me by Amanda and others I have decided to make room for the law to take its course and I request that the media and the public do the same.”
