Renovating Your Home This Festive Season?

While the festive season is all about ending the year on a high note. It’s also a period of new beginnings, out with the old in the new. Are you planning to renovate your house this festive season while you enjoy a well-deserved break?

There are a few things you need to keep in mind when you do.

A comfortable living space makes a huge difference to your well-being, you spend most hours of your day at home, it should be a place where you find your piece of mind. You need to know if you’re planning on renovating your home this festive season.

Know Your Limitations
First things first, what can and can’t you do? Make sure you check the legal obligations and requirements, especially if the property is located in a complex or secluded estate. Do you require permission for your project? Are there any tax implications? Before proceeding to get the best advice from a professional and know your limitations and what area you can make sparkle.

Get a project manager
The temptation to be a DIY specialist can really harm the way your house looks in the end. If it’s a major renovation, you will need the services of a project manager, someone who does renovations for a living and understands what needs to be done. The last thing you want is to regret wasting money on sloppy renovations.

Have a Plan
Pick an area you wish you to remodel and have a concrete plan, a realistic budget – putting aside a little extra for those unexpected expenses. Every good plan requires regular updates of the checklist. Be prepared for workers not showing up, supplies not being available, and potential problems not identified beforehand. It’s the festive season after all.

Pick the right caretaker
Going away on holiday while the renovations happen? Make sure you have a caretaker that will regularly check up on your home and valuables while you are away. This is very important, as the holiday season is a peak season for criminal activity.

Be Creative
There is a broad range of videos on the internet that can help you with your renovations, spend the time to get ideas, tips and tricks to make your experience a pleasant one. Be creative and make sure you have fun as you create a living space that you can be proud of.

  • regulate, in harmony with international standards, the processing of personal information by public and private bodies in a manner that gives effect to the right to privacy subject to justifiable limitations that are aimed at protecting other rights and important interests,
  1. Definitions and Interpretation

1.1.“Personal Information” means information relating to an identifiable, living, natural person and where it is applicable, identifiable, existing juristic person, including all information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013. 

1.2  Parliament assented to POPIA on 19 November 2013. The commencement date of section 1Part A of Chapter 5section 112 and section 113 was 11 April 2014. The commencement date of the other sections was 1 July 2020 (with the exception of section 110 and 114(4). The President of South Africa has proclaimed the POPI commencement date to be 1 July 2020.

 
1.3. “Processing” means the creation, generation, communication, storage, destruction of personal information as more fully defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.  

1.4. “You” or the “user” means any person who accesses and browses this website for any purpose. 

1.4. “Website” means the website of the KAYA 959 at URL www.kaya959.co.za or such other URL as KAYA 959 may choose from time to time.   

  1. Status and Amendments
