Dr Rebecca Malope joined Point of View with Phemelo Motene and share how excited she was to receive the Order of Ikhamanga in silver.
She also shared a few lessons she’s learned through her long journey as a gospel musician in South Africa.
“My daughter told me after she received an email from the President’s office, and then I was like what!!! It felt like a dream. You know, I feel like I am still going to wake up, it is amazing, I don’t even know what to say.”
“I’ve been celebrated in many African countries, but for this one to come, and be recognized by the state, in my own country it means a lot to me. I will cherish it forever. It’s unbelievable, we give God all the glory. To the people of South Africa as well, if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be getting this honor.
