President Cyril Ramaphosa has called on all stakeholders in the education sector to work together and ensure that learners receive quality education.
The President was delivering the keynote address at the opening of the education lekgotla this morning.
His call comes as the education department continues to facilitate a successful academic year amid a global pandemic.
This week the department released the 2020 matric results, which saw a slight decline from the previous year at 76.2%.
President Ramaphosa says all education sector players need to build stronger social compacts that put learners and their education first.

Further engagements vital
Gauteng MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi will “adopt” the Kgothalang Secondary School in the West Rand after being named the worst-performing township school.
Lesufi will visit the school next week to engage with the teachers and understand their challenges.
Out of the 234 matriculants who wrote their national senior certificate exam at the school, only 31% passed.
Eureka High School was named the worst performing suburban school.
However, the MEC is satisfied with many township schools that recorded a 100% pass rate for 2020.
He spoke in Ormonde, south of Johannesburg, where the province’s top achievers were being honored.
