February is the month for the unveiling of the Formula 1 cars for the season and Wednesday, 09 February was the turn for Red Bull.
The second-best team for 2021 revealed their new machine, the RB18, which will be driven by the 2021 world champion Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.
Red Bull will be hoping their new car can help them beat Mercedes to the Constructors title this year, having fallen short in the last campaign.
There are not a lot of changes to the car from the one Verstappen and Perez had last year, with the wing getting a bit of a makeover as well as the fitting of a lower nose.
The 2022 season has seen the introduction of new rules, aimed at making the sport a lot safer, but also equalling the playing field to an extent.
Among the major changes this year, is the increase of the tyre size from 13 to 18 inches. Also, a ground-effect floor. The 2022 car has two long underfloor tunnels which create a ‘ground effect’ – meaning there is more suction under the car to pull it to the tarmac, while also ensuring more of the downforce is generated from under the car.

Verstappen has taken over the number ‘1’ for the season, changing from the ’33’ he’s become famous for, while Perez will stick with his number ’11’ on the car.

A lot of excitement is expected for 2022, following the controversial conclusion to the 2021 season, where F1 fans were divided.
Many believe Sir Lewis Hamilton was robbed of his record eighth championship, while others were happy to see his reign ended by Verstappen, albeit in dubious fashion.
The first race of the year will be in Bahrain on the weekend of the 18th of March.
