Mpumalanga police have arrested a fourth person in connection with the murder of a police officer.
The SAPS says officers received information about the suspect’s whereabouts. The 35-year-old suspect was wanted for outstanding cases of murder and attempted murder of police officials.
SAPS spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi says the crimes took place in August 2021 in the Tonga policing area.
She says the suspect is also linked to a string of other cases including a cash-in-transit in April this year.
The suspect is also wanted for an armed robbery in December last year and a murder that took place in Barbeton in October 2020.

Police officers shot
Earlier this month, three police officers were shot in Gauteng.
In the first incident, an off-duty police officer was robbed of his service pistol by three males after being shot multiple times.
He was a member of the Orlando Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Investigations Unit (FCS).
National SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Athlenda Mathe, said the officer died at the scene.
“This incident happened in Freedom Park in Soweto just after 10pm. A case of murder and armed robbery have been registered and no arrests have been made as yet,” she said.
Mathe said in the second incident, two members attached to the Pretoria Public Order Policing Unit were shot while on patrol in a police Nyala in Extension 6, Akasia.
“Both members were taken to a local hospital where they are receiving further medical treatment. The two front tyres of the police nyala have also been damaged as a result of the shooting. A case of attempted murder and malicious damage to property have been registered. No arrests have been made thus far.
“Police are reminding communities that they remain the eyes and ears of all law enforcement agencies and are pivotal to the reduction of crimes especially those that are serious and violent in nature,” Mathe said.
