Phemelo Motene recently spoke to Marousi Mzondi the Deputy Director of the Integrated School Health Programme in the Gauteng Department of Health.
She broke down why this campaign is important and why all young girls need to be immunised.
“The Human Papillomavirus Vaccination (HPV) campaign is a conducted by the Gauteng Department of Health, this campaign is being conducted through the Integrated School Health Programme.”
“Our target group is all primary school Grade 5 girls who are aged from 9 years old and above, as long as they are in Grade 5.”
“We are actually immunizing the girls in Grade 5 at a young age because it is best to vaccinate them with the HPV vaccine at that age because we would like to protect them and prevent them from having HPV infections,” says Mzondi.
