Pearl Thusi has come to Anele Mdoda’s defence after American Twitter users made mean comments about her body.
The drama started when singer Kelly Rowland shared pictures of herself wearing a sexy yellow swimsuit during a trip to Italy.
Anele wore a similar swimsuit during a mini-vacation in the Maldives last month. Twitter users couldn’t help but remind the media personality about tweets she made in 2019 about the singer.
Anele famously said that Kelly was not the most beautiful member of Destiny’s Child and did not look good without make-up.
American Twitter users got wind of Anele’s comments and decided to troll her online.
One user said Anele looked like actor Anthony Anderson.
“Now why would Anthony Anderson call Kelly Rowland ugly?” one tweep wrote.

Pearl Thusi to the rescue
Actress Pearl Thusi did not like all the hate that was being directed at Anele. “So this thing with Anele has gone straight to body shaming. Intense. I thought there was a universal agreement that we’d all outgrown that,” she tweeted.

One Twitter user told Pearl “everyone loves seeing Africans trampled on, even Africans”. Pearl says women should fight for each other.
“…. as women we need to stand together and not allow people to think they can attack us with no repercussions.”

She added in another post: “Anele’s tweets in the past may have been equally unnecessary to you- but if you stoop to the same level, then how can you think you’re any different. If you know better, you do better… or no?”

But Twitter users were not on board with her suggestion of being the bigger person.
She hasn’t deleted this nor has she actually apologized. Also, this isn’t in the distant past, it was two years ago https://t.co/qSRbTzDpwE

Some Americans also defended Anele against body-shamers but also held her accountable for her “mean” remarks about Kelly.
