The second single from Adele’s new album 30 is here and “Oh My God” we can’t get enough.
After the success of her comeback single “Go Easy On Me”, the English singer dropped another hauntingly beautiful track.
The song was written by Adele and produced by Greg Kurstin and explores the singer’s desire to put herself first.
Fighting an internal conflict about her desire to have fun for once, the song is about Adele taking control of her life.
She has spoken out about how her marriage, divorce, becoming a mother and fame at the peak of her career led to depression and anxiety.
“Oh My God” much like Go Easy On Me is a message to anyone going through a similar phase in life, one of acceptance and forgiveness.
30 is Adele’s fourth album and has already been certified triple Platinum since releasing in November.
The music video is packed with symbolic visuals and deep messages, like the chair burning before panning to a poised Adele.
Indicating that her marriage may have gone up in smoke but she’s never been in a better place.
The video ends with Adele taking a bite of an apple as the song ends on the words, “I want to have fun.”
An ode to the forbidden fruit in the garden of Eden.
The music video dropped on 12 January 2022, and already has 14,499,004 views on YouTube.
