Nigerian televangelist prophet TB Joshua dies aged 57. Joshua was the founder of the Synagogue, Church of All Nations. He died shortly after concluding a programme at his church in Lagos on Saturday evening.
The Lagos-based prophet, Joshua, was born on June 12, 1963, died of an undisclosed illness.
In a statement the ministry said: “God has taken his servant Prophet TB Joshua home – as it should be by divine will. His last moments on earth were spent in the service of God. This is what he was born for, lived for and died for.”
“The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations and Emmanuel TV Family appreciate your love, prayers and concern at this time and request a time of privacy for the family.”
Joshua was a controversial self-professed prophet. Many people demanded that he be held accountable for the collapse of his church, Synagogue of All Nations, in which more than 80 South Africans died. In July 2015, an investigator’s examination determined that the collapse was caused by carelessness. Some of the families accepted monetary compensation, while others filed litigation.
