The Zulu royal family has released a statement regarding a leaked voice recording of a verbal altercation between King Misuzulu KaZwelithini and his sister Princess Nomkhosi Zulu.
According to reports, it is unclear when the dispute occurred, however, the recording started circulating on social media on Friday.
In the recording, the king can be heard telling the princess that he is not her brother and instructs her to leave his sitting room.
He continues to yell expletives insulting the princess’ mother, prompting her to ask him to repeat what he said.
In the statement released on Tuesday, the Zulu royal family said it acknowledges the circulation of the audio involving Misuzulu.
“This matter is a private family issue and will be addressed internally by the Royal Elders.
It is evident that the recording was made without consent and is now being used as part of a broader campaign to damage the King’s reputation ahead of an upcoming court case. We urge the public to approach such material with caution, as it lacks full context and is intended to mislead.”
The royal family added that it remains committed to unity and resolving internal matters with dignity.
“Once all the facts have been gathered, the appropriate steps will be taken. We request privacy and respect during this time,” the statement reads.
The dispute is reportedly over a soured business deal and involves one of the royal properties.
The Zulu royal family is set to meet in Durban today to discuss the matter.
