WhatsApp appears to be experiencing an extended outage that is affecting users in numerous countries around the world, including South Africa.
On Tuesday morning, consumers across all South African cell networks noticed that the service began to act strangely.
Similar reports have also been received from India and Europe.

When users first tried to send messages, they only saw a single tick. Users were still seeing the clock indicator at the time of writing, indicating that messages were still being sent, and no messages appeared to be getting through.
