Remember AKA had a fallout with Reebok about two years ago over their sneaker deal?
AKA had his own custom-made sneaker with the popular sports brand. Only 600 pairs were made and sold out very quickly.
From the outside, all seemed to be going well until the rapper decided to put the brand on blast at the end of their deal.
The Supamega claimed that he received no profits from the sale of the shoe.
“Can you believe they didn’t pay me a single cent for this? Not one cent”
This didn’t make any sense to fans of the rapper as his brand has a lot of pull, so why would he sell himself so short?
AKA explained that it had always been a dream of his to have his own shoe.
“I had no choice … it was always a dream of mine to have my own sneaker. I guess that’s why I took a shitty deal in exchange for doing something for the culture.”
However, more information has surfaced about the finer details of the agreement.
AKA told a fan that although he never made any more from the show sales, he was paid 120k every month for nearly two years.
“I think … hope that clears it up for you,” he added.
I said I didn’t get a cent from the sneaker, not from the deal. I was paid 120k every month for nearly two years I think … hope that clears it up for you. https://t.co/M8BNzEKRIx
