A power outage at the Zwartkoppies pump station is affecting recovery of water systems which impacts high-lying areas.
In an update on the 1-month maintenance project, Rand Water shared that although pumping at Zwartkoppies is continuing at 100% residents from a number of areas in Johannesburg remain without water.
On Wednesday, 26 June until 03h30 on Thursday, 27 June a power failure at Zwartkoppies affected pumping to Forest Hill, Yeoville, Meredale as well as the Benoni reservoirs.
Multiple systems in the City of Johannesburg were also affected, including suburbs which were already running bone dry from last week.
While some areas were receiving water, Rand Water said it could take up to 2-days for the system to full recover and for all affected areas to receive water.
By Thursday night, Rand Water shared that some systems including Crown Gardens and Eagles Nest remain critically low.
The first part of the maintenance at Eikenhof has been completed and pumping will be ramped up to 83% until 12 July for the remainder of the maintenance work.
