WATCH: Thieves try to steal Rugby World Cup trophy at SARU House.
There was a burglary at Saru’s offices, where a replica of the Webb Ellis Trophy is kept.
The Western Cape’s Plattekloof neighborhood is home to the offices, which were broken into late on Monday, according to reports that surfaced on Tuesday afternoon.
The SAPS confirmed that five signed Springbok jerseys, whisky, and eight laptops were stolen from Saru’s offices.

While acknowledging the news, a SA Rugby spokesperson assured News24 that all of the trophies kept in the offices are secure.
“They (the burglars) entered the office complex, which houses Saru House among other things, and broke into offices on the ground floor, as well as Saru’s offices.
“All trophies are safe,” the spokesperson said.
A duplicate of the Webb Ellis Cup, which the Springboks kept after winning a second straight World Cup final in France, is one of the trophies safely kept in SA Rugby’s offices.
