On Monday evening, certain parts of Gauteng were hit by severe hailstorms. The weather services issued a warning to residents, stating that thunderstorms and heavy rain would persist throughout the evening, potentially leading to localized flooding.
To shed some light on hail damage insurance and assist those whose properties were affected by the hailstorm, 959 Breakfast invited Tarina Vlok, the Managing Director of Elite Risk Acceptances, to share her expertise.
Vlok observed that insurance companies offer coverage for catastrophic events like the one we are currently experiencing.
“With the frequency of these events continuing to increase, that cover is becoming extremely expensive. We are entering the season for insurance negotiations.”
She emphasized that the outcome of any insurance claim relies on the risk factors taken into account and the information provided when obtaining the policy. “It is important to engage with your broker or your insurer to make sure you have a cover tailored for your needs and find out if it is in place for these events.”
