After two weeks of protests over the cost of living, Ecuador is at a standstill.
The violent protests are over rising fuel and food costs, which are fueling unrest across Latin America due to rising inequality.
In the country that produces oil, the price of diesel has nearly doubled since 2020 and the price of petrol has increased sharply.
Scenes of the unrest have been widely shared on social media.

On Monday President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso responded by pledging to lower the cost of gasoline and diesel by 10 cents a gallon.
That is only a third of what the protesters had asked for.
