Moments after a heist on a cash-in-transit (CIT) van on the R114 near Lanseria, community members stormed the scene to try and make off with whatever cash was left behind.
In a video clip shared by Yusuf Abramjee on Tuesday, 22 August, scores of residents from the nearby informal settlement can be seen running towards the cash van, which was on fire.
This was shortly after the heist had taken place and the gang of men who pulled off the heist got away.
An undisclosed amount of money was stolen, but the South African Police Service (SAPS) haven’t released a statement of the incident.
