The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the deportation of five convicted criminals who are undocumented immigrants to Eswatini.
According to reports, the five men include three convicted murderers and one convicted child rapist from Vietnam, Cuba, Yemen, Laos, and Jamaica.
On Tuesday, 15 July 2025, Tricia McLaughlin, Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the DHS said the flight landed in Eswatini.
“A safe third country deportation flight to Eswatini in Southern Africa has landed— This flight took individuals so uniquely barbaric that their home countries refused to take them back,” McLaughlin wrote on X.
“These depraved monsters have been terrorizing American communities but thanks to @POTUS Trump @Sec_Noem they are off of American soil,” McLaughlin added.
Fox News correspondent, Bill Melugin, confirmed the report on X, and wrote, “DHS announces a third country ICE deportation flight has landed in the tiny African country of Eswatini. On board were egregious criminal illegal aliens, including three convicted murderers and a convicted child rapist. Nationalities: Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, & Cuba.”
The Government of Eswatini has confirmed that five deportees currently in the country are being housed in isolated correctional units and pose no threat to national security or the public. Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli explained that the individuals are in transit and will soon be repatriated to their respective home countries.
“The Kingdom of Eswatini and the United States of America have enjoyed fruitful bilateral relations spanning over five decades. As such, every agreement entered into is done with meticulous care and consideration, putting the interests of both nations at the forefront.
“As a responsible member of the global community, the Kingdom of Eswatini adheres to international agreements and diplomatic protocols regarding the repatriation of individuals, ensuring that due process and respect for human rights is followed,” Mdluli said in a statement posted on X.
