The Nelson Mandela Foundation has dismissed its CEO Sello Hatang, this following an internal investigation
Hatang’s termination was revealed in a statement on Wednesday by Njabulo Ndebele, the board chair of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
Ndebele stated that Hatang was still serving his notice, after being placed on special leave while the complaints were independently investigated.
“After considering the outcomes of the independent investigation, and ensuring that the process had been conducted fairly and without prejudice, the board concluded that Mr Hatang’s conduct had been unbecoming and was unacceptable for someone in his position and that he should be summarily dismissed,” said Ndebele
Sello Hatang react to outcomes of investigation
Hatang has responded to the outcomes of the investigation in a statement saying the outcome of the investigation are truly unfortunate and that he would be working to ensure his name is restored to reflect the person he truly is.
“With love and loyalty, I have been honoured and humbled to serve South Africa, Madiba, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation for the past 15 years as the Foundation’s CEO. For each and every day I spent, I am deeply grateful.
The time, however, has come for me to carry the spirit of service beyond the Foundation. The outcome of the investigation are truly unfortunate thus in the immediate term I will be focusing my attention on a matter that is vital to who I am and how I can continue to serve in the world: ensuring that my name is restored to reflect the person that I, and others, truly know me to be.” wrote Hatang,
