A 21-year-old man has been arrested after the body of a female was discovered inside her stolen Range Rover.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect killed the woman when he robbed her house in Standerton, Mpumalanga.
Some items believed to be stolen were also found inside the vehicle.
Police say the victim was killed on Friday evening, 23 August.
The suspect allegedly ransacked the victim’s house before killing her and putting her in her Range Rover which he drove around in.
An official from the tracker company was tracing the victim’s car when he found it at a petrol station in Moreletta Park, Tshwane in the early hours of Saturday, 24 August.
While searching the vehicle, and the suspect who was driving, police discovered the woman’s body in the car.
Suspected stolen items included laptops, cellphones, jewellery and the deceased’s bank cards.
Two firearms and one replica firearm were also found inside the car.
Police were called to the scene and arrested the suspect. He was charged with murder, kidnapping, possession of unlicenced firearms, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and possession of suspected stolen property.
The suspect is expected to appear Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 26 August 2024.
