Stay out of the sun and hydrate, residents are warned over the heatwave that is scorching Gauteng.
Temperatures are set to soar to 33°C on Friday, 27 October increasing the risk of heatstroke and dehydration.
Johannesburg Emergency Services (EMS) spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi advised Gauteng residents to stay out of the sun between 11h00 and 15h00, when the sun is at its harshest.
Those working outdoors should try to stay in cool, shady areas to avoid heat cramps, heatstroke and heat exhaustion.

Temperatures are expected to take a drastic turn over the weekend however, dropping significantly on Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29 October.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) expects temperatures to drop extremely with heavy rains bringing wet and windy conditions.
According to the SAWS, a band of active thunderstorms from Namibia to the Wild Coast is responsible for the drastic change in temperatures.
The cold front is making landfall along the south-west coast.
