Soweto residents will face a 17-hour water outage on 09 August due to planned maintenance by Rand Water.
The shutdown will impact various areas around Soweto from 07h00 on Wednesday, 09 August.
According to the bulk water supplier, the purpose of the maintenance is to repair leaking bypass pipelines, and valves on the F33, F40 and F44.
Rand Water says supply to the Chiawelo and Doornkop West reservoirs will be affected, as well as direct feeds to the Tshepisong and Chiawelo regions.
This will result in customers in these reservoir zones being affected by low pressure to no water.
Direct feed areas include:
- Tshepisong (phases 1 to 7)
- Ebumnandini Informal Settlement
- Slovoville Village
- Slovoville Informal Settlement
- Slovoville compound
- Leratong village
As recovery may take up to 48-hours after the completion of the maintenance, Rand Water encourages customers to store sufficient water at least 2-days before the outage.
